monk-ish do-ings

water liberally with babies' tears is part of a monk-ish series of sorts that I began last fall. I hope to explore the theme and interesting textures and imagery a bit more into 2009.

second triptych

Finally uploaded these and placed them in triptych fashion for your enjoyment.
The panels were just stacked in a pile, collecting dust till now. And, yes, that is a porcupine smoking in the left-hand shadows.

SK8OLOGY charity art online auction

“SK8OLOGY”
In the tradition of pairing contrasts in order to create new mediums of expression, ISM: a community project presents, “SK8OLOGY” an exhibition that combines skateboard counter culture with the world of fine art.
On Saturday August 23, 2008 the ISM: gallery will host the opening exhibition, showcasing over 150 creative deck canvases from some of the most poignant and significant active artists and professional skaters. The show will then travel to San Diego September 4-6 for the Action Sports Retailer (ASR) Trade Show and off to Florida September 12-14 for the Surf Expo.
Contributing artists and professional skaters are donating their creative deck canvases to raise awareness and resources in an effort to support Now That You Know, a non-profit organization that helps to provide ambitious girls from developing countries a secure environment for learning and growth. Proceeds will also contribute to benefiting the youth of our society through the artistic enrichment of our community.

Bid for this and other skatedecks at ISM:community's website by clicking on the SK8OLOGY image below. Thanks!

inspired by the news

Inspired by this Washington Post article by Howard Kurtz. The excerpt reads:

....""Not everyone is drinking the Kool-Aid. Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass wrote of the coverage: "McCain is now cast as the crabby uncle who visits and shrieks there's no gin in your house," while Obama is "busy fighting off throngs of reporters, a cast of thousands as urgent and impassioned as in those old Hollywood biblical epics.""
